On April 18, Ambassador Cho met with Rep. Joaquin Castro and exchanged views on the recent situation on the Korean peninsula.

Rep. Castro said that the current situation on the Korean peninsula seems to be changing rapidly, and he expects that the successful inter-Korea summit held on April 27 would provide positive impact to the upcoming North Korea-United States summit.

Rep. Castro also commented that while there are many challenges in negotiation with North Korea, we should have faith in the strong ROK-US alliance, through which we could work towards achieving the goal of denuclearization of North Korea.

Ambassador Cho expressed his appreciation for Rep. Castro's interest in Korean peninsula issues and the development of the ROK-US alliance. Rep. Castro commented that he always emphasized the importance of the ROK-US alliance and kept an eye on Korean investment companies' activities in United States, and expressed his commitment to put an effort into developing the ROK-US relations.
