2025 Global Korea Scholarship (GKS) Program for Undergraduate Degrees

The Global Korea Scholarship (GKS) offers international students the opportunity to study at higher education institutions in Korea, enhancing global educational exchange and fostering mutual friendship between Korea and participating countries.




We are pleased to announce that one Canadian national will be selected to participate in the “2025 Global Korea Scholarship Program for International Students for an Undergraduate Degree” in Korea. The program includes one year of Korean language training followed by a 4-6 year degree program.


  • Application Process: Applicants must apply through the Education Affairs Section at the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Toronto.

  • Application Deadline: Wednesday, October 2, 2024(Applications can be submitted by mail or in person. For mail-in applications, the package must arrive by the deadline.)


  • Important Submission Notes:

  • If original documents requiring confirmation from a Korean Embassy or Consulate General are not available by the application deadline, you may submit copies by October 2 for initial review.

  • Original confirmed documents must be submitted by Wednesday, October 9.

  • Failure to submit confirmed original documents by this date will result in disqualification.


  • Apostille Convention Notice: As of January 11, 2024, Canada has joined the Convention Abolishing the Requirement of Legalization for Foreign Public Documents ("Apostille Convention"). Canadian public and private documents intended for use in Korea now only require an Apostille certificate, eliminating the need for further legalization at the Korean Embassy.


  • Key Changes:

  • Canadian Government-Issued Documents: Apostille certification required

  • Notarized Documents by Canadian Notary Public: Apostille certification required

  • High school graduation certificates and academic transcripts may be submitted with consular confirmation.

  • Selection Results: 1st Round results will be announced on October 11, 2024.
